With sixteen actor–musicians playing over eighty parts this production promises to be an unforgettable romp of an evening. Director Conrad Nelson returns to Liverpool after previous successes with Accidental Death Of An Anarchist and Lisa’s Sex Strike to turn his hand to Chaucer’s classic tales of humanity.
He said: “We’re using puppetry, manipulation, physicality and opera. We’ve got a lot to do in a short space of time. We’re essentially trying to put nine mini plays on stage, so it will be one hell of a ride.”
The Canterbury Tales also brings actor Matthew Rixon back to Liverpool after his successful performance in 2008’s Endgame at the Everyman where he performed alongside his father Matthew Kelly. The cast also includes At Home With The Braithwaites actress Ishia Bennison and Richard Standing, known to millions as Coronation Street’s Danny Hargreaves, last seen in the spectacularly successful Broadside’s production of Othello.
