The Tabard Inn, London, sometime in the fourteenth century…

The perfect play for the charismatic Northern Broadsides and their company of multi talented actors, who spoil us with a second visit to Liverpool this season following Medea in February.

A motley group of individuals gather for their pilgrimage to Canterbury Cathedral. On the way, they regale each other with colourful tales to pass the time of day, and thus unfolds one of the greatest collections of stories ever told.

Mike Poulton’s deliciously witty adaptation – first toured by the RSC to rapturous reviews and public acclaim – reclaims The Canterbury Tales for contemporary audiences.

“You never really know what to expect when Barrie Rutter’s travelling troupe of players arrives, but you know it’s going to be entertaining” Liverpool ECHO

Presented by Northern Broadsides in partnership with The New Vic Theatre.
